This is a rather commercial site but I would be remiss in not linking it . It offers a general maple forum that is made up of 99% Japanese maple folks . This is not a site for the faint hearted . There are alot of strong willed folks here beware.

This is a highly intellectual site as the name foretells. It has a maple forum that is both interesting and ofteen technical . You can learn alot here , or get caught up in a bunch of minutia . Recommended for more experienced Japanese maple enthusiasts.
Societies
- The Conifer Society
Just one great organization . I place it here because i feel as many others thast conifers are a great companion plants for Japanese maples . Most Japanese maple folks will at some point get an interest in at least dwarf conifers .
- The Maple Society
This is a fledgling society that is linked to the UCB forums. I think they have great potential . They host an annual convention that most interested in Japanese maples should attend. The last one was held in Japan.( I unfortunatly wasn’t able to attend)
