This tree is not for beginners UNLESS YOU BUY A LARGER ONE !!. It is a truly unique tree that is exceptionally touchy when small  90% of those who go cheap on this one will not have it live  I guarantee it .. when larger they seem to do fine. But even small ones for an experienced grower will do ok with the proper care and ideal conditions it will reward it’s grower with astounding beauty throughout the season but it's slow growth will make that penny wise pound foolish person wait 15 years in most non perfect Jm growing areas to enjoy it . For those who want to see it grow you wont see much from year to year . . Best keep smaller ones in a container in mostly shade (dappled shade best) with a good drainage medium and watch the watering and the sun. Delicate, finicky, touchy, a tree with an attitude ( my way or the highway) are just some terms and expressions that fit it well. But for those with experience with JM’s or that like a challenge …go for it cause if you are successful it is well worth it.. Or just buy a larger one.
