Acer palmatum Koyama dani nishiki

Acer palmatum Koyama dani nishiki

This is a more recent introduction from Japan around 1994 . Heretofore unavailable in this country it is a really cool cultivar. Yano considers this a Matsumurae but his definitions of such are much different than Vertrees . I would put this in the Vertrees Odd leaf form category . Leaves have short , wide and uneven texture unlike any other palmatum I have seen. It has a slight variegation of different tones of green . The size is just a guess. This is truly different and a must own cultivar
