Acer palmatum Shojo

A great red hardy cultivar with Matsumurae leaves. Deeply colored almost black sets it apart from Shojo nomura which is a medium red. It holds color well with a bit of shade The leaves are slender and long but very symmetrical in a star pattern. It is NOT a dense tree and has an open look while branching more outward than up as it grows. It's name means red faced monkey or orangutan. Shojo is used to signify red.
