Quercus dentata Pinnatifida (Japanese Emperor Oak)

Quercus dentata Pinnatifida (Japanese Emperor Oak)

This is a superior species with super large somewhat dissected leaves . It is a slow grower and will likely not get hugh in this area. Some consider it a large bush although it seems to hacve an upright form.. Some have stated it is late frost problematic. and a zone 6 tree this i think is a CYA for most growers and sellers. My feeling is it is pretty darn hardy and you should be ok even in colder climates. Mine made it thru -17 below last winter and is only 24" tall!!. If you want an unusual oak from Japan this one is for you.
